As part of the
Bowie Blade Pic Project, I've been posting pictures taken by Arnie Miles for the Bowie Blade between 1973 and 1975. Here are a set of pictures that were taken of an accident scene in or near Bowie in the early to mid 1970s. I haven't been able to identify the location. Can you?

This picture has the best clue. There is a building in the background containing a sign with the letters "Y-L-A-N-D" - perhaps the word "Maryland." Ray's Towing responded to this accident.

The signs indicate that the road curves ahead, and there is a traffic light after the curve.

Could that be on 450 at Hilltop Plaza? In the background, the building with "LAND" on it looks a bit like the drive-thru window of the old Bank of Maryland that was in the plaza, with the tow truck parked on 450.
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it, that definitely looks like a bank. I'm still having trouble reconciling the curve in the road as Annapolis Road in that spot is fairly straight.
