1970s Accident Scene on Old Chapel Road

As part of the Bowie Blade Pic Project, I've been posting pictures taken by Arnie Miles for the Bowie Blade between 1973 and 1975. Here are a set of pictures that were taken of an accident scene on Old Chapel Road near the intersection with Race Track Road in the early to mid 1970s.

Click each picture to see a larger image.

An El Camino with a "custom bed cap" was rear-ended. The intersection between Old Chapel Road and Race Track Road can be seen in the distance. The Bowie Race Track can be seen beyond that. The gas station near the intersection was a Phillips 66 at the time.

The other car involved crashed into a fence post after the initial collision. This spot is just about where the entrance to the Old Chapel Estates neighborhood is today (the corner of Old Chapel Road and Weiss Drive).

The parking lot for the Samuel Ogle Middle School can be seen in the distance. Some of the houses on Wakefield Lane can be seen as well.
